The executive team is well experienced in helping professional portfolio managers achieve higher performance. They accomplish this by building and delivering practical applications of breakthrough financial concepts. Previously the team built and owned a software company that supported the pricing, analysis and management of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). Charter Research Corporation, as it was known, served institutional investors throughout North America. This company was purchased by McGraw-Hill / Standard & Poor’s in 2001.
Michael A. Ervolini, Chief Executive Officer
Mike has over 27 years of experience in institutional investment management and software development. Cabot Research reflects his dedication to assist investors in improving performance by enhancing decision-making with solutions that deliver impact through clarity and greater control. Prior to founding Cabot Research, Mike was a founder and CEO of Charter Research Corporation, a software company that supported the pricing, analysis and management of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) which was purchased by McGraw-Hill / Standard & Poor’s. Previously Mike was a Portfolio Manager and Chief Information Officer with AEW Capital Management where he first started using information technology as a strategic tool to run institutional portfolios. He was also a Vice President with Legg Mason Real Estate Institutional Advisors (Philadelphia, PA). Mike holds a B.A. in economics from Rutgers University and an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania where he concentrated in mathematical modeling.
Hal Haig, President
Hal is committed to providing institutional investors with effective, practical and innovative tools and techniques to drive performance. He leads Cabot Research’s development and sales with the same approach he has used before – aligning strategy, insightful analysis and technology. This approach combines strategic development with a focus on synthesizing research into analytic frameworks. Prior to founding Cabot Research, Hal served as President of Charter Research Corporation. There he managed company growth and developed the technical platform. Previously, he was a founder, partner and asset manager for a quantitative hedge fund, Congress Street Research. Hal also worked as a business and technology consultant at Coopers & Lybrand and for several well-known software companies. He holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
